Na4 Rc8 16. Rc1 Bd7 17. Nc5 g5 18. Bd2 Bxc5 19. Rxc5 Ne4 20. Rc1 Qb6 21. Be3 Rb8 22. Bxe4 Rxe4 {this is the point where I (Steve D) first start watching this game} 23. Rc3 Rbe8 24. Qd2 Qc7 25. h4 Bh3 {Here Black is obviously capitalizing on White's weaknesses on the light squares} 26. Rfc1 {pressuring black`s c-pawn} 26... Qd7! {Black wisely does not worry about that c-pawn, and instead focuses on his attack} 27. hxg5 hxg5 28. Rxc6 {Now white is up one pawn, and at first glance, looks like he may soon be up a second pawn (assuming that black doesn`t want to push g4 and lock in his own bishop)} 28... Qg4!! {excellent move, effectively preventing capture on g5, as if white`s bishop moves, then e2 will fall with an attack on white`s queen} 29. Rh6 Rxe3!! {Bamm! Another excellent move by Kyril! I was hoping that Kyril would see this move, and sure enough he did. In case it isn't obvious, white cannot recapture the rook. That is, if 30. fxe3, then black mates in two with 30 ... Qxg3+ 31. Kh1 Qg2# Or if 30. Qxe3, then black mates in three with 30 ... Rxe3 31. fxe3 Qxg3+ 32. Kh1 Qg2# Also, white really can't take black`s bishop instead, as 30 ... Rxh3 is answered by Rxe2} 30. Qc2! {Probably white`s best hope. So instead of recapturing any material, white decided to go for an attack on h7. And now black does need to be careful here.} 30... Rxg3+!! {The exact right move! I was glad that Kyril saw this move, and also that he didn't try Rxe2, which would have given back the bishop after 31. Qh7+ Kf8 32. Rxh3} 31. Kh2 {All moves lose for white here. For example, if instead he captured the rook with the pawn, it would have been mate in two again (with black queen on g2). And Kh1 also would lose (which Kyril can further elaborate on if he wishes)} 31... Rg2+!! {A forcing move, as now white only has one legal move} 32. Kh1 {Maybe white was hoping black would not see the follow up here ...} 32... Rh2+!! {No such luck!! Kyril saw this move and played it instantly, before Brian even walked away from the board!!! Kudos to Kyril!!!} 33. Kxh2 {Again, this was white's only legal move} 33... Qg2#!! {Checkmate. Kyril was the only member who beat Brain in this siuml. Excellent job, very well played!!}
Steve D`Agostino is awesome
